General
I do my best to ensure that my photos are as true to colour as possible. However, due to inconsistencies in monitors, digital photography and production variations, I cannot guarantee that the colour you see on your screen accurately matches the true colour of the product. The finished/actual product may be slightly different from how it appears in the preview.
Please note that colours may appear differently across various screens and devices. I describe the shades based on the manufacturer’s specifications, but exact matches cannot be guaranteed.
Digital vs Reality
From the type of screen, its calibration, to the type of surface printed or the material the product is made of, our perception of colours varies a lot. Where possible, use descriptions and colour comparisons provided to make an informed choice. Viewing the listing on multiple devices may also help. There will almost always be a variation with the actual product, also, which may range from slight to quite flagrant.
Lighting Conditions
Less considered but also important is the type of light which the photo was taken. I do try and include various conditions, such as outside in the natural light, indoors under a daylight lamp, or a warm white bulb in a photo booth. The lighting condition where you are when you are looking at the website may also affect your perception of the product colour.
Manufacturing Process
Lastly, colours may vary slightly during the manufacturing process. This applies to items produced in large quantities, such as polyester buttons, wool, trims, fabrics, craft embellishments etc. Minor variations can occur due to dye batches, ageing, and limited stock availability.
Within a production batch of 100 printed design buttons, some may appear to be slightly brighter. When there is meant to be a faded effect, there may be slight variations in the effect.
For wool or thread, batches issued from different dye lots may appear slightly different in shade. However, I can try and match dye lots on larger orders of wool and threads to minimise variations for your project. If you have ordered from me before and need a top-up to finish a project, you are more than welcome to let me know the batch number or dye lot number so I can see if I have any of the same number left in stock.
