Workshop Calendar

See what’s coming soon and find the perfect one in the perfect venue for you

Here is the list of all the workshops that I will be teaching in the coming months, in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Area. I will try and keep this list as up-to-date as possible, so that it only shows what’s coming up. If you belong to a community group and would like me to come and deliver a workshop for your group, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

All the workshops located at The Newstead Centre (Newstead Village), The Framework Knitters Museum (Ruddington) and Keycraft Garden Centre (Hucknall) can be booked directly with me via this website or via email / WhatsApp. Visit each event for more information.

All the workshops located at Nibbles, Needles and Hooks or at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Station (in collaboration with Wild Roots Creatives) can be booked via their respective websites or by contacting them directly. All details are included in the individual events.

All workshops are beginner friendly, are held in small group settings of no more than 12 people per session (some are no more than 6 people per session).
Most workshops will include refreshments and sweet treats on the day and an optional participation to a “hidden” WhatsApp Group for additional support.

I hope to see you soon!

Dorset Posy Button Brooch Workshop

March 27

Enjoy a relaxed and mindful heritage craft workshop in Hucknall, where you’ll be introduced to traditional Dorset button making and create your own Dorset Posy button, inspired by the look of a small bouquet of flowers.

This in-person, small-group workshop takes place on Friday 27th March at Your Time, Believe Belong Become CIC in Hucknall (full venue details to be confirmed). You’ll learn how to make the ring and thread button known as the Dorset Posy. On the day, you’ll be able to choose whether to turn your finished button into a brooch or a bookmark. The main focus will be on learning the button-making technique itself.

This workshop is organised by Ashfield Creates in partnership with Your Time CIC. Your Time CIC offers a safe and supportive community space where wellbeing comes first, and Ashfield Creates is a programme supporting arts and creativity across Ashfield until 2027, produced by Nonsuch Studios and Ashfield District Council. Booking will be via Ashfield Creates. A booking link will be added as soon as it is available.

What You’ll Make

You’ll create a Dorset Posy button using traditional ring and thread techniques. Your finished button can be turned into either a brooch or a bookmark to take home. Each piece will be unique, and you’ll learn a skill you can build on in your own time.

Who This Workshop Is For

This workshop is suitable for beginners, even if you have never tried button making before. Very basic sewing skills can be helpful but are not required. It’s ideal if you enjoy hands-on crafts, mindful making, or trying something new in a friendly and supportive environment.

What’s Included

All tools and materials needed for the workshop are provided, along with step-by-step guidance during the session. You’ll also receive written instructions to take home so you can continue practising after the workshop.

About the Workshop

This is a relaxed and welcoming workshop, with gentle guidance rather than a rigid “follow exactly” approach. The focus is on enjoying the process, learning a heritage craft skill, and having a calm, creative moment for yourself. It’s as much about the experience as it is about the finished piece you take home.
