This hand-turned darning egg with an integrated handle is crafted from recycled hardwoods sourced locally in Nottinghamshire, including oak, beech or teak. Each piece is turned from a single block of wood on a lathe, so the egg and handle are one continuous form with no join. Every tool is entirely unique, showing the natural variations, grain, and even marks from the wood’s previous life.

Smooth and weighty in the hand, this darning egg provides a stable curved surface ideal for repairing socks, knitwear, cuffs, small sleeves and other tight spaces where a darning mushroom may be too large. The rounded lower handle offers a comfortable and secure grip, making it easier to reach awkward areas like sock toes and heels.

Finished with a vegan, nut-friendly hemp oil, the surface is polished, tactile and safe for sensitive users. This tool embodies sustainable craftsmanship: reclaimed timber, minimal waste, and plastic-free packaging from start to finish.
