Workshop Calendar
See what’s coming soon and find the perfect one in the perfect venue for you
Here is the list of all the workshops that I will be teaching in the coming months, in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Area. I will try and keep this list as up-to-date as possible, so that it only shows what’s coming up. If you belong to a community group and would like me to come and deliver a workshop for your group, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
All the workshops located at The Newstead Centre (Newstead Village), The Framework Knitters Museum (Ruddington) and Keycraft Garden Centre (Hucknall) can be booked directly with me via this website or via email / WhatsApp. Visit each event for more information.
All the workshops located at Nibbles, Needles and Hooks or at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Station (in collaboration with Wild Roots Creatives) can be booked via their respective websites or by contacting them directly. All details are included in the individual events.
All workshops are beginner friendly, are held in small group settings of no more than 12 people per session (some are no more than 6 people per session).
Most workshops will include refreshments and sweet treats on the day and an optional participation to a “hidden” WhatsApp Group for additional support.
I hope to see you soon!

Heritage Button Making Workshop – Dorset & Yorkshire Buttons

Heritage Button Making Workshop: Dorset & Yorkshire Buttons
Please note that this is hosted by the Fields to Fabric group. Advance booking is required via their Eventbrite event (click here).
Join me for a relaxed and friendly introduction to two traditional British button-making techniques: the Dorset Cartwheel and the Yorkshire Button.
Hosted by Fields to Fabric, a community education textile group dedicated to sharing traditional and ancestral textile skills, this hands-on workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced stitchers who would like to explore a heritage craft.
During the workshop, you’ll learn how to create a Dorset Cartwheel button, one of the foundation techniques of Dorset button making and the starting point for many other button designs. You’ll also be introduced to the Yorkshire Button technique, using a small loom. As well as learning the techniques, we’ll explore a little of the history behind these fascinating textile traditions and their place within Britain’s crafting heritage.
The workshop fee includes:
• All materials required on the day
• Tools to use during the workshop, with many items included to take home afterwards
• Printed instructions for both button types.
• Some additional materials to continue practising at home
• Guidance, demonstrations and individual support throughout the session
• Refreshments
No previous experience is necessary.
Participants may also choose to stay for an additional hour after the workshop for supported practice time. This optional extra provides an opportunity to continue working on your buttons, ask questions and build confidence with the techniques learned during the session.
