Anchor Pearl Cotton Size 8 is a high-quality, mercerised perlé cotton thread with a smooth twist and soft, even sheen. Made from 100% cotton, this non-divisible thread is designed for decorative hand stitching where definition, strength, and consistency matter.
With over 45 solid colours available, this versatile thread is ideal for hand embroidery, tatting, hardanger, embellishment, lace accents, jewellery work, and fine textile details. Size 8 is particularly well suited to smaller Dorset buttons, producing crisp wraps and clean structure without bulk.
Unlike stranded embroidery floss, Pearl Cotton Size 8 is non-divisible, making it quicker and easier to work with. There is no need to separate strands or manage tangling — simply unwind and stitch directly from the ball or spool.
Each unit contains 10 g of thread, measuring approximately 85 metres in length, offering excellent coverage for detailed hand sewing and embroidery projects.

Important Information About Shades, Packaging and Photos
Anchor Pearl Cotton is currently undergoing a production and packaging transition following the brand’s move under DMC ownership. As existing stock is gradually replaced, production has moved from Hungary to France, and some shades may vary slightly between dye lots, particularly in depth or undertone.
During this transition period, Anchor Pearl Cotton may be supplied in either the original Anchor winding style or the newer DMC winding style. Both use the same ball format wound onto a cardboard core, but the winding itself looks noticeably different between the two styles.
Because stock is supplied by wholesalers, orders that include several shades may contain a mix of winding styles depending on availability at the time. It is also possible that the same shade may be supplied in the newer DMC winding in one order and the original Anchor winding in a later order, as I cannot control which stock format my supplier provides.
When multiple balls of the same shade are ordered together, they will always be supplied from the same dye batch within that order.
Product photos are updated only once a shade has been received in the newer winding style at least twice. Until then, and while mixed stock remains in circulation, the exact winding style shown in photos may not always match the item supplied.
