Each skein is made from a 4-ply tightly twisted wool, which helps reduce fraying and tangling while you work. As a result, stitches sit neatly on the canvas, creating an even and professional finish. This makes it suitable for both traditional tapestry projects and more contemporary textile work.
In addition to classic needlepoint, Anchor Tapestry Wool is a favourite for Yorkshire button making. Its thickness is ideal for size 8 looms and works particularly well for small button-based pin cushions. Wool is naturally gentle on pins, helping to protect points and maintain sharpness over time.
This wool has long been valued for its reliability and colour quality. However, due to changing supply chains, certain shades are becoming harder to source. For this reason, securing specific colours while they are available is recommended.
