Originally designed as sew-on curtain rings, these hollow brass rings are an essential component for button makers. They are particularly suited to making Dorset buttons (cartwheel type and variations, Singleton). They also lend themselves for the making of many other traditional, contemporary or more modern versions of “ring and thread” or “ring and fabric” button types.
These hollow brass rings are also an excellent choice for textile and mixed-media crafts alike. Versatile, they’re popular not only with button makers but also with knitters, jewellers, curtain makers who may use them as stitch markers, clasp and thread organisers and of course for roman blinds or curtain making.
The manufacturing process involves bending or rounding a flat piece of brass into a semi-flat hollow rod and into a circular shape (ring). This process leaves a visible, unsoldered seam at the back of the ring. More photos can be provided for reference on request.

Care Instructions
Please note that the material with the rings are manufactured may come from different sources and therefore have a copper content that varies from one ring to the next.
For this reason I would not recommend that they are washed in water as the ring may stain the textile that it is in proximity of or attached to. It may be best to remove the rings (or the buttons made with the rings, if that is what the rings were used for) before the item goes in the washing machine machine.
Notes on colour
Please note that the material with the rings are manufactured may come from different sources and therefore have a copper content that varies from one ring to the next. For this reason, you may find that the rings come as more yellow or gold colour as others, some might have a more tarnished look. This is absolutely normal and not something that I can control unfortunately. The rings are stored in a closed, dark and dry place to help protect them as much as possible.
