Workshop Calendar

See what’s coming soon and find the perfect one in the perfect venue for you

Here is the list of all the workshops that I will be teaching in the coming months, in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Area. I will try and keep this list as up-to-date as possible, so that it only shows what’s coming up. If you belong to a community group and would like me to come and deliver a workshop for your group, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

All the workshops located at The Newstead Centre (Newstead Village), The Framework Knitters Museum (Ruddington) and Keycraft Garden Centre (Hucknall) can be booked directly with me via this website or via email / WhatsApp. Visit each event for more information.

All the workshops located at Nibbles, Needles and Hooks or at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Station (in collaboration with Wild Roots Creatives) can be booked via their respective websites or by contacting them directly. All details are included in the individual events.

All workshops are beginner friendly, are held in small group settings of no more than 12 people per session (some are no more than 6 people per session).
Most workshops will include refreshments and sweet treats on the day and an optional participation to a “hidden” WhatsApp Group for additional support.

I hope to see you soon!

Button Making Workshop – Discover the Singleton, Bird’s Eye & Grindle Dorset Buttons

January 9, 2026 @ 10:00 - 13:30
£35.00

Friday 9th January 2026 · 10am – 1.30pm (3½ hours)

The Whitworth, Old Library Room, Matlock

£35 per person – includes all materials, refreshments & cake

Start the new year with a creative treat to look forward to — a calm, friendly morning of button making and good company.

In this relaxed 3½-hour workshop, Sandrine will guide you through the making of three beautiful heritage Dorset button designs – the SingletonBird’s Eye, and Grindle. These are among the earliest button types ever made in Dorset in the 17th century, and a lovely way to explore a lesser-known part of Britain’s textile history.

You’ll learn each technique step by step, discover their stories, and make your own set of buttons to take home. If time allows, you’ll also receive an extra kit and instructions to try the Posy Dorset button later – a little something to keep the creativity flowing at home.

🪡 What You’ll Learn

  • How to make three traditional Dorset buttons (Singleton, Bird’s Eye, Grindle)
  • The history and heritage behind these early designs
  • Tips, tricks, and finishing touches for confident button making
  • How to continue at home with your take-home kit and booklet

🌿 Workshop Details

  • Held in the beautiful Old Library Room at The Whitworth in Matlock
  • Small, cosy group – relaxed pace and plenty of individual guidance
  • Beginner-friendly – suitable for complete newcomers and returning button makers alike
  • No minimum numbers required to run – it will go ahead, whatever happens!
