Darning Egg – Hand-Turned from Recycled Hardwood (Oak, Beech or Teak)

£12.75

A beautifully hand-turned darning egg made from recycled hardwoods, perfect for repairing socks, knitwear and visible mending projects.

Availability: 1 in stock

This handmade darning egg is crafted from recycled hardwoods sourced locally in Nottinghamshire, including oak, beech or teak. Each egg is turned individually on a lathe, making every piece a unique one-off with its own natural grain, colour variations and character. Created by a skilled local woodturner, these eggs are made especially for my shop and are produced in small batches.

Compact, smooth and comfortable to hold, this darning egg provides a reliable curved surface that supports fabric while you work. Its size makes it particularly suitable for mending socks, cuffs, smaller sleeves, children’s clothes and other areas where precision matters. It is equally useful for visible mending techniques, freestyle embroidery on curved surfaces, and even as a charming decorative object in your craft room.

Finished with vegan, nut-safe hemp oil, the wood feels silky to the touch while highlighting the natural patterns and history of the reclaimed material.

Please note: Any mending wool pictured is not included.
