Modal is a semi-synthetic textile fibre made from the harvested cellulose of beech trees. It belongs to the rayon family (alongside standard viscose and Lyocell/Tencel), but it is specifically engineered to be an upgraded, high-performance version of traditional viscose. Because it is derived from a natural plant source but processed using an advanced chemical spinning method to turn the wood pulp into fine threads, it bridges the gap between natural and synthetic materials.

This Coffee colour provides a muted brown background that can add warmth and depth to an embroidery design. It is an attractive option for traditional and vintage-inspired stitching, botanical subjects, wildlife designs, samplers and projects using cream or lighter-coloured threads.
